The Best New Activities In Dripping Springs

Dreamland Dripping Springs is the spot to check out for fun, food, and music.”>If you’ve been keeping up with the news lately, you’ll have no doubt heard that the Lone Star State has become the place to be for people looking to move. And of all the cities and towns to choose from, the one place that has become THE place to go is Dripping Springs, Texas. Now, if you happen to live in Dripping Springs, this is no surprise. You understand the hype, and truth be told, you’re probably wondering why it took so long for people to finally get on board.
For others, though, Dripping Springs, TX might not be a familiar Texas city. We know the likes of Austin, San Antonio, Houston, you know, the big cities. Of course, the world knows Dallas specifically because of the Dallas Cowboys (most valuable sports franchise in the world…again) and the great TV show of the late 70s though early 90s. But Dripping Springs? Not so much.

This little haven is located in a part of the Lone Star State known as the Texas Hill Country, touted as one of the most naturally beautiful regions of the United States. For generations, citizens of the area & government leaders have done their best to preserve the scenic beauty of the Hill Country while trying to remain connected to the changing social landscape of the world at large. Dripping Springs is perhaps the most notable example of a small town having been able to maintain the small, quaintness of a bygone era while understanding the need to address a 21st century population.

Known for bold statements like “The Wedding Capital of Texas” (check state legislature on this one; it’s kinda official) and “The Gateway to the Hill Country”, Dripping Springs has come into focus in recent years as the state’s hotspot for leisure. Whether it’s artisan eats, farm-to-table basics, or award-winning breweries, distilleries, and wineries, Dripping Springs is the place you go when you want to get all of the Texas experiences you can handle in one place. It’s perfect for locals who need a break from the go-go of big-city life & visitors who don’t want to stand out as tourists.

So, with all that Dripping Springs brings to the table (no pun intended…at least not completely), there’s bound to be some cool new things to experience. Ask & ye shall receive! Here’s just a taste:

Live Music In All Places – If there’s one thing you can glean from every major visitor outlet for Dripping Springs, it’s that live music is BIG. Just about every place in the city has got live tunes going, which is impressive. Then again, it’s a short drive from Austin, which has always been heralded as the “Live Music Capital of the World”, so maybe it’s not such a coincidence. Either way, with the last eighteen months of the world’s ‘bleh’, folks are starting to finally get out (safely) & catch a show.

Keeping Traditions Alive – You may not know this, but Texas has some pretty deep German roots. As such, celebrations for Oktoberfest pop up all over the state, including in Dripping Springs. Also, they happen to be home to some of the nation’s best breweries, something they take great pride in. While this Fall celebration is starting to come back into the fold after a year’s absence, some breweries are really making it their own.

Farmers Market – You don’t have as amazing a food scene in one place without one heck of a farmers market & Dripping Springs has got that covered. It regularly stands as one of, if not THE best, farmers market in the state of Texas & Top Ten in the U.S..

Songwriters Festival – Few things are as quintessentially Texan as songwriting. Then again, when you’ve got scenic landscapes like those you find all over the state, it’s no surprise that some of the greatest singer/songwriters to ever take up the art came from Texas. Dripping Springs will be hosting a Songwriters Festival in 2021 that will be a must-see for all music lovers.

All-in-One Fun Centers – One thing Dripping Springs has tapped into lately has been the all-in-one fun center. Sure, we remember the rudimentary mini-golf courses of our youth, but today’s centers are so much more. Nowadays, you’ve got EXTREME mini golf, pickle ball courts (one of the hottest new recreational games in the nation), art exhibits that are part of the layout, and live music.
